Movie of the day: "L’affaire Bojarski"

It's been a long time since I've enjoyed discovering a film this much. First of all, the actors chosen are perfectly suited to their roles: Reda Kateb, Sara Giraudeau, Pierre Lotin, and Bastien Bouillon are impeccable. But the story, based on real events, is crazy. Without giving away the plot, since it's easy enough to find online, I'll just give a brief overview. Post-war racism resulted in people being rejected for their origins before their knowledge and willingness to integrate into French society were assessed. In the case of Bojarski, a disowned inventor who nevertheless had the ballpoint pen, roll-on deodorant, and coffee pods to his credit, he put his expertise to use in counterfeiting banknotes. I must admit that the two hours of the film flew by. The pace is fast and the atmosphere of the time is totally in line with what we imagine it to be. What's more, the sets of the workshops used to create the counterfeit banknotes, like the work of this imitator, are completely credible. Of course, it's a film that paints a positive picture by changing some details about the end of his imprisonment and his life afterwards, but everything fits together perfectly, even if it has been romanticized for the screen.

Finally, it is worth remembering the links between Bojarski and the police commissioner pursuing him, and the unwavering love of the couple in the face of the downward spiral of a counterfeiting artist and his wife who cannot leave him.

I invite you to see it, it is a very beautiful subject and a remarkable film.
